Almond Tree House, a charming detached 4 bedroom house nestled at the base of the foothills that rise from the coast, 10 minutes from the beach, with views to the sea, consists of a large lounge diner, with large table and chairs, the lounge area has a large comfortable sofa and easy chairs, and there is a T.V. Zone, there is also a free fast Wi-Fi internet service, so that everyone can keep in touch with friends and work.
There is a separate kitchen and breakfast room, with all facilities for cooking, including an oven with gas hob, porcelain stone sink, , and a fridge freezer. There is also a breakfast table and chairs as well as a separate pantry, and even a cosy wood burning fire.
The large master bedroom, with large double bed has a balcony with views to the sea and to the mountains, there is also a laptop desk for those who have work to do. The second large double bedroom also has a balcony with sea and mountain views. The third twin bedroom has 2 single beds, and the fourth bedroom has 2 single beds which can be put together on request as a double bed. There is also another single bed that can be placed on request in one of the larger bedrooms.
There are 2 bathrooms, the first on the ground floor has a shower, hand basin and W.C. as well as a washing machine. The second on the first floor has a bath with hand shower, a bidet, a hand basin and W.C.
There is a large garden terrazzo at the front with views to the sea in the near distance and to the mountains to the back of the house. There is a covered terrazza, at the side of the house with table and chairs for eating 'Al Fresco' and a sofa and benches for lounging. At the back there is a wonderful, wild private garden starting with a BBQ zone, that leads to a track going up the mountain, depending on your courage to can go up and find different spots to sunbathe in private.
700 metres down the road is an ‘Agriturismo’ or farmers restaurant, where the proprietor produces everything served on the table, including salami, pecorino (sheep’s cheese), home made pastas, suckling pig, Sardinian sweets and great local wine and liquors and of course one can walk home.
For a membership fee of €5 per person per day, one can gain access to the recreation and sports centre, at Baia della Mimosa (10 mins by car) including 50m Olympic and children’s swimming pools, (open from 16thMay.-end Sep.), tennis courts, basket, football and minigolf. (in the low season some of the sports facilities and services may sometimes be unavailable due to weather conditions, demand etc.)Also included in the price are participation for those interested, in the activities of animation, miniclub for kids, entertainment shows, dancing and discothèque music and Piano Bar. Summary: We spent 2 wonderful weeks here, which started on arrival when we found various items, kindly left by the owner, coffee, wine, Sardinian sweets, water, salt, washing up liquid, detergent and toilet paper, very thoughtful. The great thing about this place is that it is set on its own, nearest neighbor 100 meters away. Which meant our 3 boys, which can be boisterous at times, could let off steam without fear of complaints, this allowed us all to feel relaxed from the start. The house is in a wonderful position, surrounded by green, at the foot of the mountains that rise up at the back of the house very relaxing views, as well as a view over the valley to the sea. There is a track that must lead up to the mountains and about 100 meters along, the boys found a fig tree, with delicious figs. The house is large with big rooms and the feeling of space, there is a huge living room, although we spent most of our time at the house living outside, we ate either on the terrazzo in front of the house or on the shaded terrace at the side, depending on the time of day. Despite the tranquility of the house, we were only 5 mins from the busy local small town of Badesi, which was full of shops, supermarkets (the Italian type with good delicatessen and even fresh fish available), bars, ice cream parlors, pizzerias and restaurants. Badesi has many summer ‘Festas’ and during our stay we all thoroughly enjoyed the ‘Summer Carnival’ and the ‘roasting of a bullock’ with a unique taste which is rare to find nowadays, ‘scrumptious’ agreed all my four boys (hubby included), both events highly recommended. Badesi Mare is a great beach 10 mins from the house, white sand, clear water and various café bars on the beach, although all the beaches were fabulous along the coast and every one different from the other. We noticed strangely, that the boys were more communicative in the environment and less inclined to be stuck on their devices, which we considered as a blessing, for the wellbeing of our family. I could go on and on, and are happy to recommend the house for a super holiday, we are already thinking of returning next year, as it’s clear that there is much more to discover. I nearly forgot to mention the day we spent at the local Thermal river, a pleasant surprise for all of us, wonderful setting, warm bits of river, like a bath and we came away with a wonderful healthy feeling on our skin. There was even a small bar under the Eucalyptus trees, for a fresh beer.
